Sesame Thyme Crumble

Though a seemingly odd pairing, sesame and thyme produce an incredible flavor. The sesame is nutty and buttery with roasted almonds while thyme emits an aromatic, sweet scent. When paired with fresh fruit and ice cream, this crumble makes the ideal summer dessert.

This recipe can also be adapted to a granola. Simply change the proportions of the crumble from 70g oats and 60g flour to 90g oats and 40g flour.

Ingredients:

70g rolled oats

60g all purpose flour

30g salted butter, softened

40g brown sugar

15g almond slices

30g sesame

1 tsp vanilla paste/extract

5-6 sprigs of thyme

1/2 tsp of salt

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 340º F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Mix everything thoroughly in a bowl. Dump out onto baking sheet and spread to a 1/2 inch thickness.

  3. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown.

  4. Serve with ice cream and fresh or macerated fruits.
